"Unaddressed Requirement: Vindaeshi from ^devart Aug 21, 2007" was the subject, and it notified me that a piece of art I have had for years on deviantART was deleted because a requirement was not addressed.
WHAT requirement pray tell? Apparently your art, my art, everyone's art that has been a favorite of the community for years can just be deleted at a whim citing nothing but a vague reference to an unaddressed requirement... and the requirement is not even made known to the victim. Outrageous.
I've sent a note to the administrators and await a response.
To you reading this... I hope this has not happened to you. All us senior members have seen this place deteriorate over the last 4 years and for me this may just culminate it.
Fortunately, I have more experience and skills than all the administration here combined and this may just be a sign to pull my art and create my own art community bringing with me many of my artist friends from here. There we will worship true art, without the politics.

The time will come for me to meet my maker, and repay him in kind, for all he has done.
How can you remove someone's artwork and send a message about it, and not even bother to let the artist know why ? Oh right, this is deviant art...
Stuff like this is probably just a tip of the iceberg. Well good luck getting an explanation.

Whatever happened to warning a user before punitive action is taken... allowing them time to remedy the situation the best way they see fit. To me, that would be the ideal way to handle situations like this. God, reading your journal just makes my head hurt. To think deviantART is now 7 years old and still is not operating on par with its users expectations.

Did you have the artwork backed up in another location? I'm lucky because such an occurrence hasn't crossed my path yet. Many of my pieces have been revised and have irreplaceable comments (critiques) on here.
Without a decent excuse would push my anger past the breaking point.

To twist one purest cause
Into an honest verse,
Itself, a call to angels.
The saddened lips of song that
Kiss away our innocence
From the vile mundane.

Anyways... I agree with your sentiments, both for visual art and poetry/prose. Maybe even more so for literature given the literary nature of the responses / comments which are as much as the art experience as anything.
God forbid, but it would be more fair to "lock" deviations to the owner (not visible to others) rather than deleting them in a vindictive and hormone-raging-teenage-moderator-driven-website manner.
Love the art before yourself? $spyed loves the money before anything.

Good to hear from you again... It's been a while!
